Meet the Coggins Family!
Ken, Linda, Kendra, Kayley, Kyle & Colton
Ken & Linda have been house-boating since 1989. They started ofF by renting a houseboat a couple times of year. Then in 2001, they purchased their first boat, a 1999 16×86 Sharp. After 5 years with the Sharp they were ready for an upgrade. They had a custom designed Horizon built in 2007. The 20×97 foot boat was delivered to Hurricane Marina and placed in slip K-14. Which was also the first year of the new store and restaurant. They were immediately spoiled by all the special care and the “necessities” they were given. When the new M dock was completed in 2015, they moved out to M-38 and enjoy a “little rock & roll” time out there.
Ken is partially retired now and they spend a lot of time in the Florida Keys. Leaving less time for house-boating so their children are now caring for the boat. Daughter, Kendra Todd and husband Kyle have introduced their son, Colton, to house-boating and he loves honking the horn. Especially when the Georgia Bulldogs score! Daughter Kayley hasn’t had much lake time the past year. She is currently living in Haiti and is teaching at an orphanage.
Miss Linda says; “There are so very many memories, Halloween parties, shrimp boils, and always Steph’s cooking. The fireworks are amazing every year, maybe we shouldn’t mention the storms we have had. Community, we have been so fortunate to have the best neighbors. Truly the entire staff of Hurricane are like family! They have gone above and beyond so many times and really have to deal with some rude folks. Hurricane’s location gives us the best people watching location and also leaves us scratching our head of how in the world that person is able to drive a boat. Sunsets at Hurricane are my favorite. Just helps to inhale the beautiful day you have had on the water and slowly exhale to make sure you can keep that a part with you as long as you can. Life is short, nowhere better to be than floating on a boat with those closest to your soul.”
